Alex came over and we drove to The Palais. “Mark + 3” on guest list, got in free. Yah!
Kirsty and her sister from the Cure there. Talked to her about Jim darling.
The concert was good, but not my scene jelly bean. Too rocky. Chrissie’s the star and the best though.
Afterwards went to The Old Melbourne with C, A, Mark and Michelle. Saw Ray Davies, also the drummer and druggy guitarist in the bar. Spoke momentarily. Left. Drove A home. Came home tired, thinking of Jim.

Not two years later, Chrissie dumped poor old Ray Davies for Jim Kerr!

And sadly, exactly three months later, the ‘druggy’ guitarist James Honeyman-Scott was found dead – heart failure caused by cocaine intolerance. He was 25 years old — less than half my age now.

  1. What a great gig it was. It is hard to believe James was 25 years old at the time of his death. He seemed so old at the time, I guess we were so young,

  2. Previous day Mark & i went to the Palais in the afternoon. C & her bf arrived just before the boys so got my LP and poster signed. Whatever happened to that poster :( Chrissie then arrived not long after and she sat on the ground and chatted with us for 1/2hr!! The concert was brill! I also got hit by a flying drumstick and ended up with a black eye! Now here we are today 31yrs later to repeat the story!! Wow! As Mark got us on the guest list, somehow we ended up down the front, no one got up and we kept being told to sit down until C protested and Chrissie agreed :) She threw the tambourine at us & after much struggling/falling around Mark got it. We saw her after outside and she said bye to us!! What a great 2 days. I now have to ask whether M still has that tamba.

    1. He does! I asked him a while ago, perhaps when I first posted this diary entry. I didn't know all the other stuff, about the day before! FAB!

  3. Chrissy & Ray spent an afternoon at Melbourne Zoo while in town. My friend has a blurry polaroid that he quickly, and excitedly, snapped while trying not to be noticed!
